In recent months, the need for graffiti removal is present in major cities across the country. While it might initially seem that removing graffiti is tricky, the truth is that it is often fairly simple. All it takes is the right pressure washer, the right
A Multi-Purpose Pressure Washer Can Handle Most Surfaces
There are different cleaning methods for different surfaces but one good multi-purpose pressure washer can clean all of them. This includes concrete, brick, vinyl siding, metal, and asphalt surfaces. Choose an option that is portable, easy to move between buildings, and has the power to clean even the hardest jobs. Start by Confirming the Surface You Are Working On
The first step is to make sure that you know the type of surface you are trying to remove graffiti from. Why? Because different materials react differently to cleaning agents. If you try to use the wrong cleaning agent on masonry, you could do more damage than good. More delicate surfaces require soft brushes and might not be able to handle detergents, while concrete can generally handle any cleaner and high pressure.
Determine the Type of Graffiti Paint That Was Used
All spray paint is not created equal, and the type of paint used will have a big impact on how it is removed. The most common types of materials used to create graffiti include polyurethanes (such as enamels and lacquers), oil paints applied via brush, synthetic resins like acrylic, vinyl, or acetate, and alkyds. Once you have determined what type of paint was used, you can determine how that type of paint can best be removed.
Remove Graffiti as Soon as You Can
It is important to get rid of the graffiti as soon as you possibly can. If you’re able to remove it within 48 hours – preferably 24 hours – then it will be much easier to remove. You should also not use a hot water or cold water pressure washer on brick if it might drop before freezing within a month. If you do, then the brick might not have completed dried and it has the potential to become damaged.
